Matt Smith

Matt was born in Sydney and moved to Melbourne at the age of four. He grew up in the south-eastern suburbs and attended a Pentecostal church where his dad was the senior pastor. At University, he studied a Bachelor of Commerce and Arts at Monash, did his Honours in Philosophy at Melbourne Uni, and completed his Master of Divinity at Ridley College.
During his time at Ridley he met his wife (Ceridwen), was received as a communicant member of the Anglican Church and he started to pursue ordained ministry. He was ordained in 2016 and did a three-year curacy at RAFT Anglican Church before joining St John’s and St Paul’s in 2019. He has been married to Ceridwen for five years and has a son, Levi (3 years), daughter Jemima (1 year), and another daughter on the way.

In his free time, he enjoys watching sport and movies, reading, eating Asian food, playing chess and jogging.
