What We Do

Alpha

The Alpha course creates space for people to bring friends for a conversation about faith, life, & God. If you have any questions about Jesus Christ and what it means to follow him, or would like to take part in a local Alpha course, please contact us.

FOR EVERYONE

We have Bible Studies that meet during the week in people’s homes. Together we study the Scriptures , deepen Christian friendships and pray for one another, the church and the world. We currently have Bible Studies in Healesville and Yarra Glen, and hope to launch more at different times and places in the Yarra Valley.

FOR KIDS

Kids’ Club runs during the 9.30am St John’s service. The children stay in the service until the children’s talk is finished and then go out for their program. Our kids club leader is Sherrin White.

FOR YOUTH

St John’s Youth Ministries (JYM) exists to encourage and equip youth in grade 5 to grade 12 to become disciples of Jesus and to grow as disciples of Jesus. We would love to run Youth Alpha and are looking for more youth to participate!

FOR WOMEN

The ‘Ladies Guild’ meets 10:00am at St John’s on the first Thursday of the month for Christian fellowship and to provide financial support for our church and projects in the wider community.

For Men

The ‘Man Flu Guild’ meets 7:30pm on the fourth Wednesday of the month. Contact our minister for more details.

Prayer

Join us on Wednesdays at 1:00pm for our Church Prayer Meeting online using Zoom (Zoom ID – 5962 6620 00 / Password – 123). We also send out regular prayer e-mail. If you would like us to pray for you or would like to receive our prayer updates, please contact our minister.

Baptisms

Baptism (sometimes called “Christening”) is a symbol marking our entry into the Christian Church and our commitment to follow Jesus throughout our lives. As an Anglican church, we baptise both adults and infants. If you would like to get baptised or have your child baptised please visit one of our services and contact our minister.

Weddings

Getting married is a significant decision, and your wedding should reflect the importance of this event in your lives. Our minister is authorised to celebrate Christian weddings according to the Rites of the Anglican Church of Australia. Weddings may be held at either of our churches or Rev Matt Smith can conduct a service at a local venue in the Yarra Valley. For more information and costs see this page or contact our minister.

Funerals

St John’s and St Paul’s offer funerals according to the Anglican Prayer Book. The funeral service acknowledges the pain of death, our hope in the resurrection of believers to eternal life with Jesus Christ, and celebrates the life of those who have died. If you would like assistance in planning your funeral or that of a loved one please contact our minister.

Community

Members of our church participate in Healesville Inter-Church Community Care Incorporated (HICCI), providing emergency food, a community meal and transport service for members of our local community. The parish is also a partner in the combined churches of Yarra Glen Opportunity Shop.
